Kon'nichiwa, Nihon kara (hello from Japan!)
Antoine Burdett, past GITA ANZ President and current SIBA|GITA Board Member, represented the Association at the recent GITA Japan Conference held in Tokyo on the 9th and 10th of November. This is part of reciprocal arrangements we have between SIBA|GITA and our global GITA affiliates in North America and Japan. This forms a valued extension to SIBA|GITA’s business here in Australia and New Zealand in the interests of global collaboration and knowledge sharing within the spatial industry.
Whilst there, Antoine met with the GITA Japan Board and reaffirmed the continued relationship post-merger of SIBA and GITA. This includes rotational hosting of yearly events and greater collaboration. In 2018, Japan will be the host followed by North America in 2019 and back to Australia in 2020.
At the Conference, there were some interesting presentations such as QZSS Satellite utilisation, BIM/CIM and Road Management using GIS. Some of these presentations will be provided by GITA Japan and made available to our SIBA | GITA members shortly. We’ll keep you updated!
